Picnic Areas |
There are two (Rotary Pavilion and Pond View - 285 Cutler's Farm Road) areas at the pool side and three(Oak Grove, Cedar Grove, and the Concession Pavilion- 454 Purdy Hill Road) at the lake side of Wolfe Park.
The Pond View picnic area is just off the main parking lot. You can play a game of sand volleyball, horseshoes, bocce, ga ga with game equipment. Twenty plus tables are nestled under the trees for plenty of shade, but are portable so you can arrange however you’d like and grills to use. There is no use of the building adjacent and full service bathrooms are available across the main parking lot by the flag pole/pool entrance area. There is electricity available and a food truck can pull up nicely to the side of the building. Your guests would park in the overflow gravel parking lot from Memorial Day weekend through Labor day Monday if they do not have the Monroe Resident car sticker. Bounce houses are allowed but must not interfere with any walkways that the public has access to and must be secured in a space that doesn't disturb underground piping and wires.
The Rotary Pavilion is a covered 32’ x 44’ pavilion located across the walkway from the basketball courts and conveniently located near both playground areas. All of the picnic tables fit nicely under the pavilion but are also portable for your convenience. Full service bathrooms are available by the flag pole/pool entrance area. There is electricity available, a large grill and a food truck can pull up nicely to the side of the pavilion and must park on the cement. (Not blacktop walkway) Your guests would park in the overflow gravel parking lot from Memorial Day weekend through Labor day Monday if they do not have the Monroe Resident car sticker. Bounce houses are allowed but must not interfere with any walkways that the public has access to and must be secured in a space that doesn't disturb underground piping and wires.
Oak Grove is nestled amongst a grove of oak trees and is the most private group picnic area located just beyond the overflow parking lot. There are plenty of tables, grills, and cool shade. Large enough for your church group or company and small enough for your team or scout troop. There is no electricity and this area is not covered with a structure. The full service bathrooms are available just a short walk to the main building by the beach. Your guests would park in the paved parking lot or on grass area near this picnic area and will have to give your permit name in order to pass through the guard house when staffed. A food truck is welcomed in this area for your event but they will need to have their own power. No bounce houses allowed at this site.
Cedar Grove is the small picnic area located near the parking area half way down Doc Silverstone Drive. There are 4-5 picnic tables under trees with a grill to use. The full service bathrooms are located by the main building by the beach. There is no electricity and this area can't accommodate a food truck. Max group size is 25 people. No bounce houses allowed at this site. You will need to bring your own charcoal and lighter fluid for all grill areas, but can certainly bring in a gas grill if you’d like. There are also garbage cans to use at each site to clean up your area after your event. Reminder no animals are allowed in the park and at the picnic areas.
The Concession Pavilion area has a covered and an open area at the lake. There are plenty of picnic tables to move around how you wish. There are no grills, but electrical outlets are on the poles and on one wall of the of the building. You are welcomed to bring your own gas grill to use on the patio. Bathrooms are conveniently located on site. There is no use of the inner building and if you wish to use a food truck they must park in the parking spaces close to the outer garage doors. They can't block the walkway around the pavilion area or the garage doors. Bounce houses are allowed but must not interfere with any walkways that the public has access to and must be secured in a space that doesn't disturb underground piping and wires.
